What does the basic web site come with?
Our basic web site is a custom designed web site (not a template) tailored to your unique business. Included with the service as well is the cost of a domain name, web site hosting, and some basic search engine optimization for your web site. A basic web site typically includes 4-8 web pages.
How do you offer such an affordable service?
The reason London Ontario Web Design is able to offer such an affordable service is we know the long term value of this service for your business. It is our hope that you will continue to subscribe to this service for a long time, which will in turn help us make back what we will lose in the early stages of this project. In the long term, this should turn out to be a profitable and successful venture for both of us.
Are there any extra costs that I should be aware of?
If you do not require any changes or editing to your web site, there will be no additional costs. The only time you incur extra costs is if London Ontario web design has to work on or edit your web site for you. We provide you with one free edit per calendar year. This means if you want to change the text on the home page, add some photo’s, or add a new page with more information about your business we will do this for free once per year. Any further edits beyond that have a fee, depending on the work needed. Essentially, you are billed at approximately $30.00/hour + Costs.
Above that standard fee, there are some “value added” services we offer that involve actual web programming for your site. These “value added” services vary in cost, but we know you will find this quite affordable if you price around. An example of a “value added” service is a contact us page which is essentially a web based form that people can fill out, and it will send you an email with the information the person put into the form.
Can I have more info about the ad supported pricing option?
Note: The Ad Supported Option is discontinued and is currently only available on an exception basis.
If you are on an EXTREMELY tight budget, we have an ad supported option. In this option, we will place some advertisements on your web site, and some small text link ads in the footer of your web site. While this is a great option for those who are on an extremely tight budget, we generally recommend people go with our main option, because too many ads can sometimes take away from the credibility of the web site, depending on the industry they are in. At the same time, having a web site that is ad supported is better than having no web site at all.
What is a domain name?
A domain name represents your id on the internet. For example, www.londonontariowebdesign.com would be our domain name.
The fee for registering a domain name varies by every company that has the ability to register domain names… for example, www.internic.ca charges an annual fee of $32.00 for .com domain names, or an annual fee of $50.00 for .ca domain names.
The cost of registering your domain name is included with the monthly price of our service.
What is web hosting?
When you create a web site, the web site is just sitting on your computer or your web designer’s computer… in order for the web site to actually be on the internet, and visible to the public, you need to pay for web site hosting.
Speaking in English terms, a web hosting company basically has a whole bunch of large computers called “servers” that host a connection to the internet. When somebody enters your domain name (www.yourwebsitename.com ) the hosting company’s computers know to display your web site for view.
The regular monthly cost for hosting varies by company, for example… www.aloak.ca charges $25.00/month for this service.
The monthly price for hosting your site with us is included in the monthly subscription price.
What is search engine optimization?
Millions of Canadian’s use search engines like Google and Yahoo every month to find the product and service they are looking for… now just because you have a web site that meets what people are looking for, doesn’t mean search engine’s will realize you are there, and that you are relevant to their needs…. This is where search engine optimization comes in. Search engine optimization is a service that, without getting into major details helps search engines become aware of your web site, and understand that when somebody searches for a certain phrase, your web site should be considered in the results it displays. They can never be manipulated, but the search engines provide us with clear guidelines on how to help them understand what your web site is all about, which gives you a better chance at ranking high for your business name/type of business, etc.
What kind of customer would this service be best for?
If you are the type of person who wants to have complete control of your web site, this service may not be for you. If you are the type of person who does not have the time to get heavily involved with an internet web site, but understands the importance of having a web site, this service is geared to somebody like you.
